Volunteer

Help with proctoring tests. We need volunteer tutors skilled in math, science, English grammar, writing, and overall organizational/study skills.

To start, drop-in hours are 11:20 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Strong background in a particular subject area, experience tutoring would be a plus. We will train all volunteers in tutoring best practices.

Valor Tutoring Center (Academic building basement)

Help various Valor Departments as needed with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Data entry. Could include printing labels, databases, etc. This is intermittent, when needs arise. Administrative experience helps!

Admissions has various support needs:

1) Serve as a Host/Hostess during admissions interviews (Fall evenings 3:30-6:15pm)
2) Prepare materials/folders for Explore Valor (during school day in Fall)
3) Welcome and direct families during Explore Valor (2 October evening events)
4) Become a Parent Ambassador (reach out to admissions@valorchristian.com for details)

Training will be provided. We are looking for friendly, outgoing parents who will welcome and direct families for scheduled events. Parents who will assist with preparations and clean up for evening events are also needed. We welcome those who love Valor and want to promote our vision and mission.

After Prom at Valor is planned, prepared, and pulled off by Valor parents to provide a safe, fun, and memorable night. Planning meetings will start in January. This is a great area to be involved no matter what year your student is. If you are fun, creative, and can stay up please consider this opportunity.

Come together with other parents to build up and support the Valor Arts Community. You will receive emails of opportunities that are available for help. Assist with Arts programs under the direction of Arts staff to support events, shows, and miscellaneous projects. Maybe even help build sets! Willing heart and hands.

Short projects that help Athletics. Examples include events, mailings, contacts, tournaments.

Help support events and appreciation for coaches (September, January, and May); Help with database, and odds & ends. Ministry-minded.

Assist Conservatory Staff with events and miscellaneous volunteer work. A welcoming attitude and a love for the arts.

1) Serve as a judge to evaluate and score student presentations
2) Mentor and edit student competition papers occasionally
3) Assist with school wide and state events

Training provided. If you enjoy Business, English and students, this is the opportunity for you.

Support the Valor Discovery Program. Needs include both the January ‘Taste of Discovery’ event, and administrative help in the Discovery Center. 

In the Discovery Center you would support administrative, event and Discovery team details. For Taste of Discovery, Committee members meet to prepare and plan the event, support ticket sales, decorate, support the silent auction, event coordination, team liaison, & student volunteer coordination If your heart leans toward this, please sign up to be part of the Discovery Support Team.

We will provide training, but roles can change throughout the year depending on whether we have a team about to head into the field. Mostly, we look for volunteers who have a heart for service and support the vision of “preparing tomorrow’s leaders to transform the world for Christ.”

Valor Discovery Center 

Variety of help needed:

1) Regular store hours: Tues/Thur/Fri. 11am – 3pm
2) Inventory/Tagging/Stocking: flexible hours as needed
3) Football Games: Need dads for only 1 hour before the game to help move inventory from the store to the stadium.
4) Sports and admissions events as needed. Still attend the event.
5) Game Time Cashier: Run the store and register in the mobile locations until game half-time. Help return inventory to the store. Seasonal (you won’t miss your child’s season)
6) Monday Re-stock: Monday mornings of football season – get the store ready to open again before 11:30 am.

Minimal time Early access to new products, 10% discount on all purchases Happy smiles and a willingness to interact with students and parents. Training provided.

Valor hosts numerous events during the year. Help receive emails and with set up, decorate under event coordinator direction, serve, and take down. Examples are dinners, Step into Valor, & special speaker events.

Willing heart and hands. Lots of fun and great way to meet other great parents to work alongside. Pick when you can help. We need a big, strong team!

Help sell tickets at all home varsity football games. Starts at 5:50 pm until halftime. Be Willing and Friendly! The proceeds from these sales goes to the entire athletic department so it benefits all sports. It is our desire to be great hosts well and welcome the community. You will gain free entry and food vouchers for concessions.

Valor Stadium, Ticket Booth

Last minute needs come up regularly, which don’t fit in the other areas. We’ll contact you by email or text as needs come up, and hopefully you can help, if you’re available. Life is like a box of chocolates! Thanks so much!

Valor Moms in Prayer needs MOMS who are invested in supporting their children and the Valor community through weekly prayer.No experience required. Meets regularly each Wednesday morning at 8-9 am in the Valor Chapel.

Help judge events at tournaments. Tournaments occur on Saturdays between November and April. Judging at tournaments is fun and easy. The Valor Speech and Debate coaches will train. Some events are similar to watching a play or a TED talk. Other events require the judge to determine which side (pro or con) won the debate. Typically, tournaments are all day on Saturday, but if you can only judge a few hours, this would still be immensely beneficial. Tournaments do provide food for judges and pay judges a modest fee.

The Valor Parents Association supports several staff appreciation luncheons and activities throughout the year. Joining this team gives you an opportunity to help with the details of these events. All parents will receive emails/text of ways every parent can contribute but this is in the planning.

We need parents in the industry of STEM that would like to mentor. We also need parents that would like to help with STEM Clubs.
