Donnie Yantis Appointed As New Head Football Coach
HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO — JANUARY 31, 2020 — Valor Christian High School Athletic Director Brian Bonn announced today that the school has appointed Donnie Yantis as the Eagles’ next head football coach.
“It’s with great excitement the Valor Community announces that Donnie Yantis will be our next head football coach,” said Bonn. “Coach Yantis is an unbelievable mentor to his players and comes with a wealth of football knowledge from the high school level all the way to NCAA Division I level. Donnie’s desire to be more than a coach and be a supporter for all things that are Valor Christian is exactly what we need in our community. His heart for the Lord is pure and he will continue our mission of preparing tomorrow’s leaders to transform the world for Christ through the game of football.”
Coach Yantis is coming to Valor Christian from Arizona State University, where he served as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator. Prior to his time at ASU, Yantis spent two seasons as the head football coach at Arizona Christian University, where he developed the program in its first season as a NAIA college football program. He was responsible for hiring an entire coaching staff, along with recruiting an entire football team in his first year. In 2014 Yantis was named the NAIA Independent Conference Coach of the Year. The following season Yantis was named Central States Football League (CSFL) Coach of the Year after leading ACU to a CSFL Conference Championship, going undefeated in the conference. He also received NAIA Region 5 Coach of the Year honors for his efforts.
Yantis has a long history of involvement as a football student-athlete, coach and advocate in the state of Arizona. In 2019 Yantis was presented with the Frank Kush “Lifetime Achievement” Coaching Award for his dedication and service to the game and its student athletes.
A Personal Statement from Coach Yantis:
I would like to thank Dr. Gary Fisher, Athletic Director Brian Bonn, and the Valor Christian Administration Team, for selecting me as the new head football coach, and for the warm welcome they have extended to me and my wife, Laurie. We are very much looking forward to becoming part of this distinguished community of exceptional people who have committed themselves to a Christ-centered education that extends into the passions of each student’s life. It is an honor and privilege to join in this endeavor with all of you.
My goal as your head football coach is to build upon the success of the program by reinforcing the championship culture at Valor, and to elevate it by integrating my years of knowledge and experience in coaching and leading young men, to be the best they can be both on and off the field. Most importantly, in all things giving God the glory! Go Eagles!
