Girls and Boys Track Bring Home State Championships

Led by Cole Sprout and Anna Hall, each named Gatorade State Track Runners of the Year, the Valor boys and girls track teams completed their seasons with state championships in their first year of 5A competition.

After losing one runner to injury after the first day of the meet, the boys relied on solid performances from each of their six remaining members to earn points for the team.

Cole Sprout won the titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs, Cian Quiroga won gold in the discus, and two relay teams combined to top the field. The 4×100 relay team of Max House, Kaiden Keefe, Jack Ranson, and Dane Palazzo won their event as did the 4×200 team of House, Ranson, Palazzo and Cayden Hawkins.

On the girls side, Anna Hall contributed to three top finishes and several state records for the Eagles, 17-member squad. Aside from two individual championships in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, Hall ran on the winning 4×400 meter relay team alongside Reese Dragovich, Camille Peisner, Quincy McMahon as well as the 4×200 squad with Peisner, Destiny Grimes, and Sadie McMullen. The 4×800 team of Reese Dragovich, Ashley Jones, Taylor Whitfield, and Keely Jones also won their event.

Whitfield won an individual state championship in the 3,200 meter run, as did Sadie McMullen in the long jump and Jane Powers in the shot put.
