Valor Board Announces New Leadership

Message from the Valor Board of Education

It is our privilege to joyfully appoint Mr. Bryan Ritz to the position of Valor Head of School, and Mrs. Rebecca Thomas as the Associate Head of School. Both Bryan and Rebecca have a passion for Valor’s mission and a depth of understanding of Valor’s culture, and they bring distinct expertise to the roles for which they are being called.

Bryan has been serving on the Valor Board of Education since 2017 and for the past two years as the Board Chair. Rebecca has been with Valor since its founding in 2007, serving as a member of the instructional faculty, Math department chair, Academic Dean, and most recently as the Director of Academics.

The Board of Education has also appointed Dr. Kevin McVaney as the new Board Chair, replacing Bryan as he moves to the position of Head of School. Dr. McVaney, whose family was part of the founding of Valor, has served on the board since the start of Valor 17 years ago and is the parent of four Valor alums.

The Board has had the great privilege of being led by Bryan these past two years and believes him to be an extremely talented, humble servant-leader, who will bring a depth of business knowledge and love of Christian education to Valor. Rebecca has ably led in each role she’s had at Valor, and the Board values her strong track record of innovative educational improvements, careful stewardship of the largest part of Valor’s resources as well as her depth of experience and calling to Christian education.

Reporting directly to the Board, Bryan will serve as Valor’s Chief Executive Officer and President, ensuring the annual objectives of the school are met and the vision and mission advanced. While all at Valor are part of articulating the school’s mission aspirations, Bryan will seek to foster a strong spiritual and collaborative culture, while also focusing on strategic initiatives, advancement, leadership development, community and partner relations, financial stewardship, and innovation.

Reporting directly to the Head of School, Rebecca will focus sharply on student-facing areas with direct oversight of Valor’s four key pillar areas -- Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Discovery -- as well as Student Life and Spiritual Formation. Rebecca will seek to provide collaborative leadership with the primary leaders of the school, the faculty, artists, coaches, other student-facing staff as well as parents to continue building and enriching an exceptional student culture.

All of us, as part of the Valor community, are committed to venturing forth into a new chapter for Valor, where we build upon our school’s exceptional foundation. With God’s blessing and provision to date, we are set on a path with extraordinary potential befitting Valor’s mission and God’s Kingdom purposes in and through our community.

With deep gratitude to God and the Valor community,

Valor Christian High School Board of Education
