National Merit Semifinalists

Nine seniors from Valor students have been named National Merit Semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This is a noticeable increase from 2023 when Valor had three semifinalists. These students scored in the top 1% of 1.3 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools across the country in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). These students now have the opportunity to compete to become National Merit finalists and, ideally, National Merit Scholars. Congratulations to these amazing students for their remarkable accomplishments.

Drumroll, Please…

Most days after school the methodic sound of drumbeats emanates from the basement of Valor’s Academic Building. The sound comes from a small but mighty group of students who meet regularly with Mr. Jake Hovis and Mr. Rick Russon as a part of Valor’s “Blue Crew” to explore the world of percussion.
