Valor's "Intro to Studio Recording" students had a special guest teacher: Alumnus Case "Chasyn" Nutting '19.
Chase has built a career as a DJ, creating infectious remixes and sharing his craft with both the Denver community and the world. He shared his story with current students of his time at Valor and how it helped him become the person he is today.
"In high school, I played guitar in rock bands and I wanted to be a lead singer (I later realized I was TERRIBLE at singing; sorry to all my alumni that had to hear me singing all the time)" Chase joked. However, after dealing with some life altering health issues his sophomore year, he was no longer able to practice as he had before. Instead, he learned howe to record sounds into his computer- sparking a love for producing electronic music.
"I still wanted to be a 'frontman' so naturally I progressed into a DJ who plays live instruments! Something quite unique to me," Chase shared with the class. "... you cannot plan what happens in your life, but if you let it, those moments can shape you into something you never thought possible."
Chase not only inspired Valor's aspiring producers, he also taught the class how to "remix" a popular song. Together they took Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" and turned it into, in Chase's words: "a proper house song for the club!"
We are so grateful for alumni like chase who share their experience and craft with our current students.

Now a junior at Point Loma Nazarene University majoring in Visual Arts and competing as a varsity track athlete, Gianna shares about some of the aspects of her high school experience that led her to where she is today.
