Two baseball players swinging a bat

The 2026 MLB Draft took place this past weekend, where two Valor Christian Alumni were selected. Both graduates of the 2023 class and Champions on the 2023 State Championship Team, Carson Tinney and Cashel Dugger, became the second and third players drafted from our program. The first player was Greg Popylisen who was drafted while he was in Junior College in the 30th round by the Minnesota Twins. Greg went on to New Mexico State, where he finished his playing career. The first player to play in the MLB was alum Daniel Butler who had a short stint with the Washington Nationals after his career at Westmont College.

Carson Tinney, catcher for the University of Texas, was selected in the second round with the 43rd pick by the Minnesota Twins.
