James Algermissen and Father win 5th Straight International Duo Piano Competition
For a fifth consecutive year, James Algermissen and his father were awarded First Place at the 2024 United States International Duo Piano Competition last week. He performed their original two-piano arrangement of Tal Zilber's piece, "Brahms in Salsa" – a Latin jazz stylization based upon Johannes Brahms's Hungarian Dance No. 5.
Competitors from around the globe come together for a weekend of truly amazing music. This year was the 25th Anniversary Celebration of this competition, now recognized as one of the fastest-growing and most respected Duo Piano Competitions in the world.
James' father said, "It was a special performance for us, as this year's USIDPC may be our final performance at the Competition since James will be a graduating Senior this May."
Congratulations to both father and son!
